My dad was Lester, the original owner of the diner. I have wonderful memories of the Phoenix diner and the cooks and waitresses that worked there. They were very similar to the characters on the show. My father designed and used the coffee cup sign in all of his restaurants. He had one in Ohio and several in Florida. He would have really loved your tribute to Mel's. As you know, the diner is now called Mel's, and has Alice memorabila in it. Thanks for such a fun site.
